The switch Kathryn refers to is the switch of a desklamp, situated 
between the phone and the keyboard on the desk. It will switch on and 
off by clicking either at the top or bottom (like pressing on either 
end of a real rocker switch) but the change in illumination is very 
slight. Switching it on doesn't seem to do anything else, as far as I 
can see.
