WB missing out on a lot of merchandising

Is this something to do with the terms of JKR's deal with WB?  I 
vaguely remember something about her insisting that the degree of 
kitchness (kitchitude? kitchality?) be be kept within reasonable 
bounds.  That said, WB seem to have no idea about tasteful 
merchandising.
