Yes, thats right.  I remembered the marauders tormenting him, but forgot 
about the discription of the father and mother.  I wonder if this negates the 
"vampire" theory, as Harry didn't describe the parents as vampires.  I suppose 
that could have come AFTER the childhood ..... who knows!!  I don't think he is a 
vampire, even though he is dark (looking) like one.  I think we will learn 
more about Snapes history in book 6 though ... he is very secretive about his 
comings and goings and duties for the order!!
