There are other issues as well.

I'd be rather uncomfortable if some of the things I've written 
about on the various list were being distributed on CD ROMS. I 
don't have a problem with them being in the list archives, because 
if need be I can always delete that record myself. And I understand 
that people will have their own personal records that I can't 
touch.

But when people start talking about distributing CDs of the 
messages, I get a little bit concerned. A lot of people share some 
quite personal information at times on these lists, and many would 
do so only with certain expectations of how that information is 
stored.
