daylight saving

I read in the papers that the Energy and Commerce
Committee of the US House of Representatives has
proposed to extend daylight saving time for two
more months in order to better conserve energy.
The House expects to take up the energy bill in a
few weeks.

My two knuts: that doesn't make any difference to
my daily routines since the time change will
*still* happen twice a year, regardless of when
those two shifts occur in the year (April/October
or March/November).

So why not, me thinketh, as someone who's already
used to this bi-annual-society/self-imposed jetlag.

I suppose that the advice to change the batteries in
your fire alarms every time we spring forward/fall
back could need tweaking under this proposal,
since the batteries will no longer be changed every
6 months.
