I've preordered mine through Amazon, because I'm too tired to stay up
for our "local" (i.e., town 30 minute drive away) midnight release
party, and they recently sent me a "You WILL get your book on the
16th!" letter. They *will* send it out on the 15th in order for it to
arrive on the 16th. They *will* give you a refund if it doesn't
arrive on the 16th, but it will only be for the purchase price, not
for shipping. Now, it may be delivered at the end of the postal
worker's work day (5pm? 6pm?), but if it's not delivered on the 16th,
you'll get a refund.
Now... I have no idea HOW you can document the fact that you didn't
receive it on the 16th, nor how difficult it will be to apply for your
refund... but that's what they told me in my letter.
