LOL!  I had an interesting timeline because I became unemployed after
8.5 years in suicide-inducing employment just a little bit before I
got into the HP fandom.  No job meant I had time to stay up all hours
reading HP fanfic, which did help me get out of a week of jury duty
because I looked completely *wasted* after an all night session of
reading slashy smut. ;-)

I only blame one fandom crossover fanfic and that was Vampire
Chronicles and Star Trek when... Brenda Antrim, I think, did a
multi-fandom orgy and it piqued my curiosity about Trek fanfic since I
enjoyed the televised series at the time.

I had initially avoided Harry Potter and its fandom but the first
movie made me curious.
