Hi Cairie, Welcome to HPFGU!
The FanFics have a million (ok maybe no a million but hundreds) of 
different authors. Usually each piece of fan fic has somewhere its 
author. There are some nice fanfic places, like fiction alley. I 
don't really like fan fic so I can't tell you more.

As for a LOTR group like this, I still haven't found it although 
I've look quite a lot in Yahoo Groups. Maybe we should start a new 
one
