Now me:

Neither of mine were coming out with anything consistant and recognisable before 12 months. Tabby (3) now speaks very clearly and Hermione (17 months) is a second child and I've long given up keeping count of her growing vocabulary.

My advice? Relax for a bit and try not to get too wound up with milestones. I don't know what children's development surviellance is like outside the UK, (sounds like The Parent Police but our health visitor is wonderful), but I was advised not to worry as long as mine were babbling and responding to speech.

hope that helps
