The big, big question. If he's the person described in the HBP quote
(the lion like person), then I'd say Godric Gryffindor.

Paula now:

Humm...I still have this sneaky suspition that it's Dudley. Look at how he
"roars" when angry and how big he's getting. Wouldn't that be a scream!

~Paula Gaon

Sherry now:

But JKR has said there is nothing more to Dudley than we have already seen.
I doubt he will be the one to do magic or the half blood prince.

Another thought I've had on the subject, but I could never seem to get my
thoughts together well enough to post to the main list ... in all the
previous books, the title "character" has been something we haven't seen
before or have barely seen, such as Sirius just receiving a mention in the
first book and then being the focus of the third. Even so, we don't
actually meet him till near the end. The philosopher's Stone we don't see
till the end of book one, but it is the focus, in that it is what Harry and
friends are trying to save. We never heard the chamber mentioned before
book 2. In GOF, the only part the goblet plays is that it was confunded and
it picks the champions, but it was not a main character. Even in OOTP, we
had only heard the order mentioned briefly at the end of OOTP, and though
order members and order business are scattered throughout the book, the
order itself is not a main character. Does that make sense? So, my guess
about the HBP is that it will be someone or something historical or barely
mentioned in the past or something newly introduced in the book. much as I
love the idea of Lupin being a prince, I don't think it will be so.
