Mark Haddon, "the curious incident of the dog at night-time"

Like HP this book was published in both Adult and Child covers. It's about a
child who is different to the world around him and doesn't really fit in
anywhere. That's the end of the similarity.

It's a first person narrative and detective story. The narrator and
detective is Christopher, a 15 year old, 3 months and some days old young
man with self described 'behavioural difficulties" (he is a very high
functioning person with one of the autism spectrum disorders). He doesn't
fit in with the mainstream community - yet - but he also doesn't fit in at
school where his abilities are much greater than the other children he is
schooling with.

Christopher wants to find out who killed his neighbour's dog, Wellington. He
likes dogs because they are faithful, trustworthy and they don't lie.
Solving this mystery presents many challenges, all with their own assorted
difficulties.

The book is funny and sad. The author apparently worked with kids with
Autism and he must have paid a lot of attention because he has got
Christopher's voice down pat.

storm, who loves to share a good read but feels really clumsy doing more
than handing the book over and saying - here give this a go.
