No, no, no, no, NO!!!
Kids' books are so much fun, why would anyone be reluctant? Don't you
remember how much fun it was to have Mom read you a story when you
were little? Well, the books haven't gotten any less fun just because
you got older! They're even alright read just to yourself, although I
always prefer to find someone who doesn't mind listening when I read
them aloud. I've read all the HPs aloud to both my boyfriend and my
big sister.
I've also taken several University-level English courses on children's
literature, and I'm in the middle of one right now. We're currently
looking at Treasure Island, Edith Nesbit's The Story of the Amulet is
next, and I can't help wondering if anyone on the list knows it? I had
never encountered it prior to the course, although most of the reading
list are books I at least knew of, if I hadn't necessarily read them
before. The others are:
Wind in the Willows
Winnie-the-Pooh
Charlotte's Web
Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang (Canadian content!)
Maria Holub
