Oh yes. I remember reading newspaper reports about the Harry Potter
craze, but never paid much attention, even though I've always
enjoyed reading fantasy novels. Too many photos of 8-year-olds in
wizard hats, I guess. Then sometime after GOF came out, both my
mother and my (70-year-old!) mother-in-law sent me the books, saying
I'd love them. I certainly did. It also inspired me to go out and
buy several of those other well-loved books I'd always checked out
of the library as a child and hadn't read in years. Narnia,
MCCaffrey's Dragon books, Susan Cooper, Madeline L'engle, David
Eddings. I've enjoyed rereading all of them and look forward to
sharing those with the kids as well as Harry & co.
