Hi Sabrina,
I think you need to look at the amazon.co.uk site instead - maybe it's not out
in America? Depending on where you are in the States, you might love the
other book, The Guardian Of Time. Quite a lot of that happens in America, for
example, New York in the summer of 1927, Arizona when it joined the union,
and on board The America in the 1950s. I really enjoyed that - how I would
love to have been a flapper! And the memories of awkward first love... ahhh,
they all came back.... :0) Oh, and the author is C C Chambers.
The Harry Potter series is okay, but I just thought the OoP was too grim, slow
and unfriendly - there didn't seem to be any warmth between the characters,
and that's important to me. That's why I became so lost in The Odessa Stone
- there's so much friendship and love between Linda and Avalon, and they
bring out each others strengths through their own vulnerability - without ever
quite realising that they're doing so. It's hard to explain, but it reached me.
I won't give up on the HP series, but I will if JKR throws out another one full of
shouting, bad tempers and adults who are flawed to the point of being plain
stupid (Dumbledore was unbelievable in the OoP). I'm going to take the next
one out of the library first, before buying it. And if she starts messing about
with the Time Turner again... oh, don't get me started....
Happy reading, Sabrina!
Sandra (who doesn't have any grandchildren, or even children yet! One day,
though!)
