Yes, I did take note that you are looking to avoid the Plastic Yo-Yo's , but from my childhood, our yo-yo of choice was a Duncan. They are plastic, but quite well made - virtually indestructable. The wooden ones look much more organic and classy, but I remember them never working as well. Just a two cents worth from someone that hasn't picked up a yo-yo in at least a decade...

Hello anyone and everyone!
I've been known to enthuse and drone about the few books which reach me,
and have managed to get a few friends to read The Guardian Of Time. The
copies have steadily moved from parents to off spring, and I've been pleased
to see that. Anyway, one of the characters (Andie, a deaf girl who is an
absolute rock for the lead character) has a yo-yo all through the story, which
she plays with almost as if it's an extension of herself, and that's got the
younger readers keen to have a go themselves! So does anyone know where
I can get any good quality yo-yos? There are birthdays coming up, and the
cheapy plastic kind of yo-yo won't last two minutes - but they're the kind that
seem to be everywhere. So I'd like to get something nice, good to hold, that
they'll have some fun with. Metal ones, or nicely varnished wooden ones,
that's the kind I'd like to give.
Sandra (with a little over three weeks planning time!)
