Snape's birthday (Was: Root Canal/JK Decorations/Jonathan Strange and...)

Carol responds:
I've always assumed that he was born in winter (because he likes cold
and dark colors and because of the, erm, Dark side of his
personality), and I started watching for his birthday on JKR's site in
November. As I said in another post, I hope it's significant that she
wished him a happy birthday. (He must really be a good guy, or on the
side of the good guys, right?) In fact, thanks to the glitch in her
calendar, he got two days of birthday wishes!

I'm sure you're right that he doesn't celebrate his own birthday
though I would hope that his mother sent him presents when he was a
student at Hogwarts. (That cruel father of his certainly didn't.) But
maybe with Voldemort gone, his birthdays are happier now.
