I have always assumed that this was somewhere in Wales because in book
one Hagrid tells us that 'he fell asleep over Bristol'. However there
is no reason to assume that it is not as far away as the Silly Isles.

bboyminn:

Well I can't say you are wrong, but I question how substantial the
difference would be. When I asked about time of birth someone pointed
out that only affect certain aspects of the chart. The impression was,
it doesn't throw the whole chart off.

I suspect the same is true of location. If you were born in New York
or Los Angeles, that would make a difference, but if you were born in
Minneapolis or St. Paul (the Twin Cities), not so much difference.
Britian is not a huge country, so I speculate that selecting a good
general purpose location would be adequate. I already speculated that
Harry was born a short while after midnight, and while I think that is
a reasonable inference, I readily admit it is pure speculation.

For reference, here are the locations of several places in the UK and
there relative distance and direction from London.

Bristol- (West)[107 Miles West and slightly South of London]
51d 26'36"N
02d 32'26"W

London- (South Central)
51d 29'08"N
00d 02'48"W

Norwich- (East)[99 NE of London]
52d 36'01"N
01d 19'54"E

Lands End - (far South West)[269 E-SE]
50d 02'17"N
05d 42'36"W

Hogwarts/Hogsmeade- (far North- best guess)[473 N-NW]
57d 47'26"N
04d 37'39"W

Other Scotland Locations-

Inverness (on Loch Ness between Highlands and Lowlands)[447 N-NW]
57d 28'07"N
04d 12'42"W

Ft William (South of Inverness, North of Glasgow)[417 N-NW]
56d 49'30"N
05d 05'03"W

North to South, the range is 7 degrees (50d to 57d)

East to West, the range is 5 degrees (00d to 5d) (I excluded Norwich
which is only included as an Eastern reference point.)

Five and Seven degrees don't strike me as much.

Could our resident Astrology expert explain to us how much potential
difference is represented here?

Location data is taken from my 3D-Atlas CD-ROM, and is only roughly
accurate.

Just curious.
