Well, I really loved the first two movies, but was so disappointed in
the last one that I'm a bit off the whole movie thing now.
Setting aside the different "feel" of the POA movie (it was okay,
although I prefer the look of the first two), I really felt that the
POA movie was just not up to par. It just didn't do the book (my
favorite of the series so far) justice. Too much important
information was dropped or gotten just plain wrong.
In addition, I just couldn't understand how the critics could have
made such a fuss about it, either. Things like Ron slipping looks
*directly* at the camera on the Hogwarts express, and the constant
mugging at the camera by certain Slytherins (I cringe every time those
scenes come up) was purely amateurish. Even my eleven year old can't
stand to watch it.
But I digress. What I'm trying to say is, I'm not anticipating the
next movie as much as I had the others, and I don't expect as much
from it. Alfonso Cuaron just didn't seem to *love* the books as he
should and, judging by the fact that Molly's been cut from the next,
we may have to expect more of the same from the new director. I'll
surely see GOF, and perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised by it, but
for now I'm putting all of my anticipatory energies towards looking
forward to Book 6.
