I followed that link, Julie, and just to clarify, that's *not* an 
image from GoF filming, correct?  Are you just saying that the 
particular photo displayed there is how you expected him to look in 
the HP movies?  I just ask because, looking at the clothing and GO's 
age, it appears to be a photo from a much older movie.

Erm... go take a look at the IMDB boards for Alan Rickman, and you'll 
find that there is an amazingly large contingent of YOUNG TEENAGED 
girls who're nuts for Alan Rickman.  As... ahem... rather a big fan 
of AR myself, I was stunned [and a little disconcerted, truth be 
told] to find 13 year-old-girls squeeeing over 58-year-old AR.  
Especially about his buck naked scene in Dark Harbor and a couple of 
choice scenes in An Awfully Big Adventure and Close My Eyes.  

You're right, Juli, that he doesn't have typical good looks, but I 
can tell you that there are a bunch of 15- and 16-year-old girls who 
find his Sheriff of Nottingham or his Anton Mesmer or his Harry in 
Love, Actually or of course his Severus Snape something to lust over.
