UPS (United Package Shredders) delivered my Half-Blood Prince
Countdown Standee today. I was initially so excited, looking forward
to setting up the display with the other items of my HP collection.
This standee was NEW IN BOX. It had never been opened. UPS sure did
their number on it, though. The standee comes in a flat box similar
to what you would ship a piece of artwork in, and its box is perfectly
suitable for shipping. However, it had been folded, mutilated, torn,
and punctured. The standee is ruined. The caricatures of Harry and
Dumbledore - similar to that of the book cover have been folded to the
point of being ready to tear, and even the 50 day countdown calendar
is torn!
Needless to say, I'm miffed! (Mild word!) I've started the claim with
UPS, but the downside is this item has no real monetary value - it
just has its collectable value to a collector. I've also e-mailed the
nice person on eBay that I bought the standee from letting him know of
the beginning claims process.
I have had several bad experiences with UPS. I will never voluntarily
use their service to ship an item to someone. I have never had a bad
experience with the US Postal Service - my personal shipper of choice.
