My take on today's events

I've been watching the news spooling the same shots of the bus, the
injured and the gridlock in London. At the moment they are
saying 'at least' 37 dead, but it's likely to get higher.
I know I'm well away from London, (about 200 miles I think), but
there isn't a state of panic here - everybody is really shocked by
the events of course, but somehow not surprised. It's like the
authorities (ambulance service, police, fire service and hospitals)
have got the emergency procedure down to a fine art because they knew
it would happen - some time.
I think a lot more countries than just the UK will be affected - they
were saying that the location of the bus bomb in particular meant
that there were a lot of foreigners around and that there were
language difficulties in ascertaining injuries and problems.
But, you know, terrible and shocking as it is, the world just keeps
on turning ...
We'll show the world that although we're small, we're a tenacious lot
and we will carry on. We will continue living our lives and by
Monday London will be back to almost normal - you mark my words.
I'm sure I speak for everyone on the list in the UK in saying thanks
for your thoughts, (but then I always was a bit gobby).
Sarah xx
