Sheryll:
Definitely reading with friends! We'll gather together
at the bookstore around 10 when the festivities start
and head back to my house once we have the books in
our hot little hands. I suspect that, as with OotP,
we'll start reading the minute we're seated on a
public transit bus back to my place. Once home, we'll
take turns reading aloud. It worked last time for a)
keeping us all in the same place and b) letting us all
laugh/cry together at the same things.
We'll have salad, sandwich fixings and desserts -
things that people can easily wander about and help
themselves to without anyone having to tear themselves
away for too long to fix food. I had considered a hot
meal but am thankful I changed my mind as yet another
heatwave has hit us and will still be around on
Friday. With no air-conditioning, the last thing I
want to do is turn on an oven or stove.
I'll also have bagels, cream cheese and juice for
breakfast. Somewhere along the line, we'll get a
little sleep. Last time we slept for about 5 hours and
picked up again as soon as we awoke.
Most of the people coming to my place were volunteers
at Convention Alley last summer, so this is also a
wonderful opportunity for us to catch up with what
we've all been doing. Especially Brenda, who's coming
up from Toronto. *waves at Brenda*
My daughter, age 21, is declining to read with us,
saying we're too slow. She will come to the bookstore
with us, but if there is anyone there that she knows
she won't hang out with us. Something about not
wanting to be seen with a bunch of crazy grown-ups in
costume. Am sure she'll wander down (she lives in the
apartment upstairs) to partake of food when she's
hungry, though. <vbg>
Sheryll, dancing with excitement
