I will go with my 12-year old to our local bookshop (about 10 
minutes walk) at midnight.  I have not pre-ordered; I don't see the 
point as in my experience the discounts offered on the day compare 
well enough with the pre-order discounts.

I'm intrigued he wants to come - we did the same two years ago and 
he must have enjoyed it, though his opinion of OOP is that it was 
rubbish.

Heh.  Mine is meeting Tuesday.  However, the book is Jeanette 
Winterson's Lighthousekeeping, which I am finding utterly 
mesmerising and expect no difficulty finishing off before Friday.
