I don't disagree with anything you said above, but I wanted to point 
out that this report also aired on ABC World News Tonight in the U.S. 
last night.  At the very least, it's not just obscure "news site[s]" 
that picked up the story.  In the same report, they discussed right-
wing southern (U.S.) evangelicals burning HP books in protest because 
the Bible says that sorcery is evil (at which point, I started 
yelling at the TV something to the effect of "do you people 
understand what 'metaphor' means!).  They also discussed the theory 
that Harry is a Christ-like figure.
