I also opted for the Borders experience. I had been in the store a
few days earlier and found out about the line numbers. I also called
the day before, and they told me they were going to start handing
numbers out at 9am. I went up there (about a 30 minute drive) and
there was a fairly long line to get the numbers. I didn't have a copy
reserved, so I asked an employee if I could be given a line number
before I stood in line. He told me that without a reserve, I could
not. Since I had already driven up there, I looked around the store
for a while. When I was leaving, the number line was gone. I walked
up to the table, and they just gave me a number! I was 154.
The store at night was CRAZY. It was not orderly at all. They were
trying to announce people in groups of 50 to get their books, but you
couldn't hear over the intercom. So this guy was standing on a chair
yelling instead. You couldn't hear him either. They were trying to
make the people with high numbers go to the back of the store, but
they couldn't hear anything back there - so they didn't budge. It was
SO hot. Evenutally (after my number was called) they had some other
employees going through the store yelling whenever they called the
next set of numbers. They also sent someone outside, so people could
wait out there. I left the store around 1am, HBP in hand, tired, and
HOT.
I don't think I'll do it again. The activities were kids only :( I
really wanted to make a HP bracelet too! It was SO crowded, and since
other stores were selling them cheaper - I'll probably jsut do that
next time. It was definately a learning experience! :D
Since I had put myself, and my very tolerant - non HP reading
boyfriend, though that experience, I had to start HBP whenever I got
home. ;) I read through chapter 4, and went to bed around 2:45am . I
got up early, read and napped throughout the day, and finished around
4pm. It was an exhausting experience from which I'm still not fully
recovered.
After all of that I'm having a love-hate relationship with HBP. JKR
says atleast 2 years until book 7. I'm going to need atleast that
long to recover from HBP! :D
