Hi all!

I thought I'd share this funny incident that happened to me and
my sparkling new copy of HBP. It literally saved me. No kidding.

I was driving with my husband down to California from Seattle,
and we were in the no-man's land of rolling hills in central
Oregon. We were in our on-it's-last-legs ancient minivan, and
heading down a hill we felt the unmistakable feel of something
going wrong in the car. We pulled to the side of the interstate,
and one of our tires had completely distorted and separated on
the inside.

Well, we hauled out the jack and the spare tire and started
jacking up the car. Well, turns out we had grabbed the wrong
jack- this one was smaller and meant for our little car, and it
could not get high enough to lift the big minivan.

Well, the only thing in our car that was sturdy and thick enough to
raise the jack off the pavement the extra inches we needed was-
you got it- my copy of HBP, sparkling clean, twice-read, bought at
12:04 am on the 16th...it was a wrench handing it over to my
hubby let me tell you, but we were stuck. I had to watch it get
smashed between the jack and the asphalt of the interstate, and
support the entire weight of the car. The agony!

But, with the awesome power of Harry Potter, it worked. It raised
the jack just enough to get the tire off, we got safely back on the
road, and my now rather battered copy of the HBP has several
hard-earned battle scars, including many gouges and dirty finger
prints.

I'm so proud of it. What a book! Is there anything it can't do??
Hee hee. ;P
