It's funny you should say that as something has been bothering me
since yesterday when I was reminded by a post on the main HPFGU
message site about Molly telling the girls about a love potion she
once made. It gave me the following idea:

What if Arthur left Molly when the children were small (so they
don't remember – and they've never been told since). He had an
affair with a muggle who became pregnant (after all he is fascinated
by muggles). Molly made a love potion and won him back. For
whatever reason, Arthur and Molly took in the child of Arthur and
the muggle woman and raised him as their own child: Ron – the half
blood prince. It was the prince part I couldn't fathom, but you've
just handed it to me!!

BTW with the other kids' names, William, Charles and George are very
common names for Princes (and Kings) of England and I'm sure there
was a Sir Percival at the Round Table. I'm also sure that Frederick
is a common name for German royalty.

Anyway, it's probably rubbish, but it's fun thinking about it!!
