I waited in my first pregnancy. My second one, on day 12 past my due
date, I agreed to be induced - it just wasn't starting on its own. But I
did manage those two without painkillers, so although I've heard people
say that induction = epidural, in my case it didn't.
This go-round, I expect induction because last time, I went so fast,
this time there's concern I wouldn't get to the hospital in time so
hypnobirthing, here I come!
Good luck, Heidi. I didn't realize you were expecting number three. With my first two, I waited until they came on their own; the second one was two weeks overdue. The third was scheduled for induction on July 12; he took matters into his own hands and came on the 10th. Number four was a semi-scheduled induction; the obstetrician who delivered number three was finishing her residency and wanted to deliver number four so she told me to come down to the hospital on June 2 and to say I was having contractions. I did, they hooked me up to a little pitocin to stabilize my contractions and told me to settle down for a couple of hours wait. Harry was born 15 minutes later. Good thing I did go in; I never would have made it to the hospital.
I read the first three Harry Potter books right after number three was born; one in the hospital and two more during nursing breaks.
