New Format - Go to Message# Feature Missing

I've already pointed out that the box that lets you jump directly to a
post by entering its number is no longer available.

Hoping against all hope, I thought they might have incorporated that
feature into the Search feature. So I tried searching for '25000' as a
test.

First, because the Search feature only searches a small block of
posts, I had to select [Next] several times to finally get the search
in range, and then it searched right past 25000 without finding it.

In large discussion groups, that Go to Msg# feature was a huge asset.
Of all the new changes that one change is really going make using this
newgroup more difficult. If someone references a post number, there is
no way to get back to it other than to hit the [Previous] button a few
hundred times.

I'm not sure if Yahoo really understands how badly they are screwing
themselves. Someone else pointed out that there are Yahoo Groups
Readers, program similar to email programs, that will allow you to
read Yahoo groups locally on your computer. In a sense it down loads
the group into your computer, which then allows you to sort, thread,
search, save, respond, etc.... These programs are very similar to the
newsgroup readers that work with the old Usenet Newsgroup except it
has been specifically customized for Yahoo.

I'm not endorsing these as I haven't tried them, but given the new
changes, they are suddenly looking very appealing.

That's great for us, but it remove the eyeballs necessary to support
Yahoo advertising. I don't feel bad about that. If Yahoo can't suport
me, why should I support it.

Just passing it along.
