Welcome aboard, ninetales!

I would never let anyone tell me what I shouldn't read something 
because I'm "too old" for it!  While I'd never agree anyway that the 
HP books are "too young" for adults (and I'm 43), I also still read 
and enjoy lots of books from my youth [the Betsy-Tacy books, the 
Little House books, The Narnia series, E.B. White, etc.].  To me, 
they're like comfort food.  

Maybe your mom should check out the quality of some of the posts at 
HPfGU, and she'll be convinced there's a lot of substance to Harry!
