OT: Disturbing video editing and nausea

I rented Irreversible because of being told the editing would make me
sick... and it did after watching it tonight.

For those seeking dark footage with almost *constant* camera motion
and spinning, this film can provide. I was getting motion sickness,
and right now, I have a headache.

'Bogey Man' did a long review of the movie on IMDB and also brings up
the uncommon editing placed into this movie:
[[
Those who blame the disturbingly strobing, pounding and restless
(sonic) imagery of the beginning don't know how much camera is in
cinema and how a talented maker can use it, depict and show with it.
It is Hell we're witnessing at the beginning of Irréversible so why
would've Noé made it look peaceful, calm and harmless as it's all
really bad and wicked even and especially for those who support it as
we soon learn at the Rectum finale.
]]

Although, leave it to me, as I'm cringing at seeing a guy's head
bashed in with a fire hydrant until it's a bloody pulp, the first hits
really sounded like a basketball being bounced. Not to mention a
homosexual sado-masochist 'dungeon' called The Rectum?

Interesting to see editing used to complement a storyline with the end
result deliberately causing an ill physical reaction.
