Well, as an Acronym, ACID POPs stands for 'Alas, Cissy Is Despondent,
Perhaps Obsessively Passionate Severus' and begins at message number
138742 in the main 'HP for Grownups' group. Apparently, it has
something to do with 'Snape, Narcissa, Unbreakable Vow'.

For an explanation of all the acronyms common found in HP discussions,
see...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPforGrownups/database?method=reportRows&tbl=28

JKR has never indicated that she reads 'HP for Grownups' or any of
it's sister groups. So, I'm not sure whether she would have picked up
on that acronym or not.

I will point out that Acid Pops are a real candy in the UK. It's the
equivalent of a large sour ball or 'Sweet Tart' on a stick. It is a
candy that is both sweet but very sour at the same time.

For the record Ice Mice aren't real but Sugar Mice are.

You can find these and many other uniquely UK sweet at this website-

A Quarter Of-
http://www.aquarterof.co.uk/

One a quick glance I didn't see Acid Pops even though I know I've seen
them before, but I did see 'Sherbert Lemon', 'Fizz Wizz Strawberry
Space Dust' which is perhaps the forerunner of 'Fizzing Whizbies', on
second glance I didn't find Acid Pops but I did find Acid Drops,
Gobstoppers, 'Giant Rats', 'Gooey Brain Skullcrushers', Sugar Mice',
'Sugar Pigs', 'Mint Humbugs', 'Liquorice Wands', and may other fun treats.

Of courser, now you can buy Harry Potter Acid Pops, extremely sour or
so I'm told, but Acid Drops and I'm sure Acid Pops existed before
Harry Potter. I also find 'Fizz Wizz' a little to close to 'Fizzing
Whizbies' for it to be a coincidence.

Just a few fun facts.
