I'm a blind person from South Africa and I love reading myself. I
read braille books when I can and I'm trying to save enough money
to get a pack mate. Unfortunately, they're very expensive, so I'll
have to wait a very long time before I can get it. I can't wait to
read the Harry Potter books in braille with my new pack mate!!

i've got a braille note, and I do have all the books in digital braille as
well as hard copy braille and audio. It's so nice to be able to carry them
along wherever I go, because I use the braille note for work, and
appointments and various other things.

For others on the list, a pac Mate, or a braille note, are PDA's for the
blind, quite a bit bigger than a regular one, but still smaller than a
traditional lap top. they have speech and refreshable braille displays. A
refreshable braille display is a line of cells that display braille dots,
showing what is on the screen, if it's attached to a regular PC. one of
these PDA devices for the blind does not have a screen, but the concept is
the same.

hard to explain, I think.
