When your employer says you're getting a bonus, do you say...

"There's not enough money."

Heh, I actually did say that. Since I'm the only office worker
'hired' (either you're family in the office or maintenance workers), I
balance all the company bank accounts and the management's account,
which handles employee pay (I issue my own pay too), doesn't have
enough to cover my monthly paycheck and even doesn't have enough to
cover a $150 bonus. A couple other accounts have the $$$$$ but a few
others are low to bottomed out at this point. Also having 8-10
million dollar condos as investments are taxing on accounts too.

Oh my gosh, 'foot in mouth'. I *should've* said 'thank you' as my
boss's sister and business partner are smiling at me and saying I've
been doing a good job... but oooh no, I had to say that there's no
money. I've been trying to crunch numbers to make sure the bills are
paid for all company divisions and it really is a lot of juggling
funds... and also having those unexpected moments of the shareholders
dipping into the funds and I'm talking thousands of dollars. It's
nothing necessarily wrong I did as to why some accounts are in the
red. Even in collections, there's only so much I can get from tenants
to pay *on time*. Economy is definitely hard.

Why do I have to speak the first truth that comes to mind?
Rhetorical. Gotta learn to not say what's really on my mind at
inappropriate moments... Although, hehe, does create *some* comical
awkward moments to reflect back on. ;-)
