Sandy:
I want a *real* Harry Potter robe (several of them actually) and a hooded
cloak. I bought an adult-sized HP robe off the Internet last year to wear to the
release party for the book, and paid almost $40 for it. I was so disappointed
when I got it because it was a piece of polyester crap. Not at all happy with
it I went to a costume store downtown. I bought another robe down there. It
was actually a monk's robe, all one piece (meaning it wasn't open down the
front), but it was black and hooded and bottom weight cotton so it was closer to
what I wanted. It is one size fits all, and a bit snugger than I like. I don't
dare wash it or I will never be able to squeeze into it again. I bought a
pattern that was a close match, but I can't sew and don't have a sewing machine. I
was going to have my daughter make it for me but she told me she sold her
sewing machine. I have always loved long, flowing garments, and anything with a
hood. From the first time I saw SS I immediately wanted robes and a cape. I
would wear them too, in cool weather over my regular clothes. Someone mentioned
hats. I have a witch hat that I have had for years. I wore it to the party and
made a band for it out of green sequined material. At the costume store I
bought a purple and gold wizard's hat. They had a really neat black one with stars
and moons on it that I just loved, but it was too big. I put it on and it fell
over my ears and down to my eyebrows. I have a larger than average head so I
can't imagine who that hat would possibly fit. It was heavy too. I would just
love to be able to come home from work and put on a nice Hogwarts/HP robe to
relax in. An all black one, not the red lined ones.
