I remember what happened when they didn't wear them.

Young tomorrow people who accidentally jaunted would end up in a sort of
pretty coloured swirling void, and their bodies would slowly dissolve 
away unless someone saved them.

If the older ones tried jaunting too far, they could end up in the same
place.

The belt enabled them to go a lot further.

An experienced tomorrow person could usually jaunt between rooms in a 
house with ease, but too far meant a certain risk.

I think they even had much more powerful belts to get them even 
further... like overseas.

When I was a lad, I wished I could do all that stuff.
