Super/Target's odd loophole system for internal coupons

I just came back from Super Target, bought 52 single serve "to go"
cups of cereal, which totaled to $46.44, and gave the cashier 52
coupons, which totaled to $44, resulting in my paying only $2.44. Of
that, twenty coupons had expired 7/8/06 and the register still
accepted them.

It's still YMMV (regular Targets can take Super Target coupons but
it's more YMMV) because you may get an uptight cashier or manager,
even though I've seen folks request letters from Target's corp level
where they state the store has to accept the coupons because they're
directly from Target's website and the 'void if copied' bit negates
the fact a person can just be hitting 'print' repeatedly, thus,
creating a whole new grey area of what is 'copying'.

If you get a cashier who really doesn't care, Target's internal coupon
system is full of loopholes. For example, I've heard reports the Coke
coupon works on other items, and as evident by today, the register's
system will accept expired Target coupons. Some coupons have no size
limit and you can get the smallest/snack sizes that create a 'credit
effect' (i.e. the coupon's saving can be greater than the price of the
product) to make other things reduced to nearly free. However,
Target's system refuses to let anyone get a negative balance, so
you'll have to pay *some* money.

Overall, good stuff to give to friends, co-workers, family, and
charities, if you think this is too much junk food... and they needn't
know you got all of it for free to almost free.
