If you already have a broadband connection, AOL is changing its BYOA
(Bring Your Own Access) to free, relying on advertising revenue.
Cancellation is the only department so far offering this
'experimental' plan. The lowest paid plan is BYOA without dial-up,
which costs $4.95 per month, and is another cancellation department
special offer--fortunately, it sounded like I got reps located in
North America (versus India in Asia). Depending on the rep you get,
you definitely get to keep your email/webpage/AIM accounts for free
and you *may* retain access to AOL software forums, except the
'opinions' forum. For those with kids into the AOL forums, this is
good.

I'd like to keep my 'vanity plates'. ;-) Not every day you get an AIM
message from someone who keeps *insisting* you're their niece because
only she has the name of 'redina'. {chuckle}
