Tim Tams are indeed Australian, and they are the food of the gods. 
Australians overseas often want to be sent care packages of Tim Tams - which 
can best be described as a chocolate cream biscuit (or cookie for Americans) 
covered with chocolate - and Vegemite - which can best be described as axel 
grease with added salt (actually it's a yeast extract, a by product from 
brewing beer - it's similar to the British Marmite, though not identical - 
and it's typically eaten spread on sandwiches. It's highly nutritious and a 
lot of people do like it - but I'm not one of them - boarding school cured 
me of that!
