I'm not good with tools either. :-\ Changing an 'existing base' is
typical such as folk paying extra for more LiveJournal icon pics or
other 'personalizing' options, so why not the computer itself?
I'm actually typing this from the computer I pieced together, and
while the blue LED light from the CPU fan is nifty, the silver and red
of the case (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product/Chassis/fulltower/xaser3/xaser3_index.asp
- v2000A +420 power supply - aluminum series only came in silver) are
rather blah... And don't match the Dell monitor's (I like Dell's
monitors but not interested in their computers) black... Hehe, or the
beige of the Compaq keyboard and mouse (recycled from the older
towers). It's not that I don't have a sense of aesthetic; it's that I
take into account budget and I really dislike tossing something I can
use just fine because it doesn't look nice... Says the gal with worn
out sleepwear on now. ;-)
