Over-analyzing your favorite fandom

Currently, my favorite fandom--if you can call it that considering its
small size--is Sorority Boys, which is comprised of one movie... and
some may consider that too much. {g}
I enjoyed the movie and it's still my favorite, regardless of how
poorly it did at the box office and the criticisms against it. Since
it's just the one movie to discuss, it's weirdly amusing for some fans
to see how much can be extrapolated from it. For example, the last
three discussion threads:
http://community.livejournal.com/sorority_boys/7315.html
http://community.livejournal.com/sorority_boys/7558.html
http://community.livejournal.com/sorority_boys/7889.html
Topics included favorite quotes, date rape, Powerpuff Girls, gay
bashing, Barbara Eden, etc... all connected to Sorority Boys.
{chuckle}
Back when I was more vocal in the HP fandom, I probably inadvertently
drove mods crazy because, no matter how hard I tried to stay on-topic,
I usually went off on different tangents. I guess after awhile I
didn't speculate as much in the HP fandom because there were so many
folks already placing much more thought--I might add *organized*
thought--into their discussions and essays, and it's possible to
wonder if the topic was hashed to death in the hundred or so unread
HPFGU emails. {g} I still advocate a 'Readers Digest' version of
HPFGU would be great! Condense a whole day's worth of discussions
into a paragraph. {chuckle}
Still, there's something to be said (and then some) when fans get
together and can share their 'obsession' and over-analyze it. :-)
