Okay, yes, the general 'Yahoo created' rooms (at least I assume they
were created by Yah); I just went to http://chat.yahoo.com and it let
me join a random room.

Give that a try, Bumbledor, see if that's the room you like (if it is, 
you can save it as a favorite room, so you don't have to worry about 
remembering the name)...
