Staples had their Z-Line Designs Monterey Computer Desk on clearance
*in store*. If you visit the website
(http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&productId=100712&cmArea=itemavailerr
), the price is ~$140 for the computer desk and ~$80 for the matching
file cart. In store, the clearance prices show $59.50 for the desk
and $20.50 for the cart. But the kicker being... the desk was
actually $9.50--one person posted this and it spiraled from there.
It's recommended not to call the store because employees will swoop up
the deals. When I called the corp # for availability, the national
CSR was reluctant to say the price until I said it. She couldn't
believe the pricing.
There were a few left in Clearwater, FL. However, I got one and the
file cabinet, plus, I used two $3 ink coupons, thus, making the desk
$6.50 and the cart $17.50. Then when the employees found out the
pricing on mine, I could hear them make dibs on the remaining desks,
so *all* the desks are gone now in Clearwater. I'm hearing reports of
folks buying 2-4 or more desks and more cities are out-of-stock.
As to what I'll do with the furniture, give them to family members.
Hey, they'll think I spent $$$ on some rather nice (and *heavy*)
pieces, when I actually spent less than $26, including tax. :-D
