Can't please the mom-ster RE: cellphone costs

I put time and effort and I think she has a pretty sweet deal because
I copied my plan to her phone:
500 anytime minutes, national long distance, free roaming, unlimited
mobile to mobile, voicemail, early 6pm N&W unlimited calling,
'unlimited' data/internet, 500 text, the 'usual suspects' of phone
options, and a free phone all for $18.75/month before taxes... and
she's like 'that's too expensive'. {blink, blink}
{sigh} I know money is always tight (I should know since a *large*
chunk of my income goes to her expenses), which is why I said she only
needed to pay $10 and I'd pickup the rest (oh no, it's *still* too
expensive), but a cellphone can be a good thing for emergencies. One
of Florida's 'hurricane preparedness' things is making sure your
cellphone is fully charged and she knows her phone lines died during
the 2004 hurricane season. Not to mention any other non-weather
related situation where a cellphone can be useful.
