Well, usually, it amounts to the same thing: if they axe a character,
they have to fire the actor because they won't be needed (and it's
implied by the usage that the character was formerly in the script).
HP is unusual in that WB don't know what future books may hold.
But in any case, I'd suggest paying no attention to an article whose
author can't spell Margolyes.
