Disagreeing with mods and concept of fic recs

I have a Japanese mom, whose first language wasn't English and she
just picked up the language from practical usage over the years, and
maybe that influenced why I have the viewpoint of 'show me the logic'
because I would frequently disagree with her, even at a very young
age. When we're kids, our first sense of 'authority' would most
likely be from parents. However, with her asking for my English
understanding and advice, my concept of just... agreeing with an
'authority' figure may have gotten skewered over the years.
C'mon, don't some of y'all miss my debates with mods? ;-) {sound of
silence broken only by crickets} Okay, maybe not. Anyway, today's
adventures:

and the mod's decision:
http://community.livejournal.com/spnstoryfinders/136043.html
Aside from the fact the mod thinks there's two Cs in
recommendation--I'll give leeway he's from South America and English
may not be a first language--the idea to have a monthly gathering of
fic recs in a fic search group doesn't seem efficient. First, there's
a fic rec group he pointed out and that he says he posts on. Second,
he said the group doesn't allow requests for fic recs, yet, that's
exactly what he did here:
http://community.livejournal.com/spn_recs/5326.html
And I'm not seeing a mod warning or a warning in the recs community
description against asking for recs. And third, if a person requests
recs for X pairing/theme, having them split out every month requires
more searching through posts versus a big-ass thematic listing such as
what painless_j did for the HP fandom.
Oh, that's not even including how many folk view fic recs as a simple
'I liked it, go read it'. Granted, that's essentially a fic rec but
it's also about as useful as going grocery shopping in an
international food market and not knowing a foreign language enough to
understand what the hell you're buying, if there are no 'pretty
pictures' on the outside. {chuckle}
And then I have a reality check:
1) The mod has been nice and polite.
2) Volunteer work in communities sucks because of folk like me who
can't just blindly nod my head in agreement--it has to make sense for
me.
3) I'm a lowly pion in the grand scheme of fandom.
4) And does it ultimately matter whether my f-list gets *once a month*
unwanted fic rec posts, if I'm posting pointless material as well. ;-)
Still, I think it's a badly executed decision by the mod. It could be
something much better for community members, if only the concept was
tweaked. Just my $0.02.
