I did get a response from Yahoo to my complaint. They asked for a more
detailed explanation of the problem I am encountering, so they do seem
to be taking the problem seriously.
I gave a my explanation in a clear and concise a format as possible
and emailed it back to them. Hopefully, it will have some effect and
the problem will be corrected soon.
By the way the same problem is occurring in Internet Explorer and
FireFox browses, so I know the problem isn't unique to SeaMonkey
(formerly Mozilla Suite).
Here is my response to their request for information -

Yahoo Groups Support,
Requested information-
-The Messages Menu that you are referring to
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
This happens in every group I am a member of but we will
use 'HPforGrownups' as an example.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPforGrownups/
On the Left Side just below the Group 'title bar' is the
Main Groups Menu containing -
Home
Messages
Post
Files

The same information I am about to relate seems to hold
true regardless of which Menu Item I select. But the one
that I used most often is the 'Messages' Menu Item.
-The detailed steps you have taken leading up to the
event of your concern
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
On the Home screen the 'Messages' Menu selection is active.
However, if you select 'Messages' and go the the Main
Message List, 'Messages' is no longer active. That prevents
me from reloading the Main Messages List to see if new
messages have arrive.
Now select any individual message from the Main Messages
List, and on the individual message screen, 'Messages' is
still inactive, and that prevents me from moving from an
individual message /back/ to the Main Message List.
Note: This is also true of the 'Photos' Menu Items. If I go
to the Main 'Photos' List page, 'Photos' is inactive and I
can't reload the page using the 'Photos' menu item. If I
choose an individual Photo or Album and select it, the
'Photos' menu item is still inactive and that prevents me
from going back to the 'Main Photos List' page.
The same holds true for the 'Files' menu item. If I select
the 'Files' folder, then the 'Files' menu item is inactive.
If I select a 'Files' subfolder or a specific file, the
'Files' menu item is inactive and I have no way to get back
to the Main 'Files' List.
-The exact copy of the error message that you've received
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
No Error Message is recieved at any time.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I can understand that some programmer may have logically
concluded that you don't need the menu item of the page you
are currently on. For example, why have the 'Home' menu
item active when you are on the 'Home' page.
But that is a flawed assumption.
Having the 'Home' menu item active when I am on the 'Home'
page allows me to quickly and easily reload the 'Home'
page.
This is even more true of the other Menu Items.
There is no reason to ever inactivate any Menu Item, that
active Menu Item is usefull and creates an enhanced user
experience.
Therefore All Menu Items should be active All The Time.
If you need more information, please feel free to contact
me.

Someone hinted that this might be a random problem; is there anyone
who is NOT experiencing this problem?
Christian Stubø suggested a work-around for my sorting problem, and
there is a work-around for nearly every problem, but why should I have
to 'work-around' when I have a menu on the top right ready and waiting
to be used --- if only it was active.
Though, I do appreciate Christian Stubø suggestion. There is also a
'Message List' selection about the message text box near the top right
side of a individual message screen that will take you back to the
Main Message List. That works but using the main menu was much
smoother and more intuitive. Again, I can find ways to get by, but why
should have have my selections limited to 'get by', when again the
main menu is right there and easy to use?
Just a few thoughts. And again, I do appreciate Christian Stubø
suggestion, I don't want to come off too snarky here.
