Sandy:

I agree that Richard Harris was the *perfect* Dumbledore. I don't know who
Ian McKellen is but Patrick Stewart would have been a good replacement. I could
have accepted him quite nicely. I don't like Gambon as DD; he just doesn't
have the *feel* for the role. He has admitted in interviews that he hasn't read
the books. I think he should because I think it is obvious that he doesn't
truly understand the nature of Dumbledore's relationship with Harry. Playing the
role as he does I think he will do fine in OOP but I am already concerned that
he will fall far short in HBP. As dumbfounded as I was about Dumbledore's
death in HBP I couldn't help but think, well, at least we won't have to put up
with Michael Gambon in the final film. Of course, at this point in the game, that
could turn out to be mere speculation. Yes, I know, Dumbledore is truly dead.
I, for one, have never questioned that fact. But, until book 7 is released,
we won't know if DD appears in it in some form. If so we will once again be
subjected to Gambon's poor rendition of Albus Dumbledore.
