As to Fan Fic, I usually just take it as it comes. I enjoy the story
and allow for some extrenal inconsistencies as long as the internal
facts are consistent and not glaringly counter to the books.

>>When you write a fanfic, it becomes really obvious how much detail
has been left out of the books! I suppose JKR would have had to add
another hundred pages per book to describe everyone. Here is a fun
fact, or semi-fact, as the case may be, Draco is not discribed as
having blond hair until Harry sees him at the Quidditch (GoF) World
Cup. That is four book into the series. I always pictured him as
blond, but many fans pictured him having dark hair, and were
surprised when the author pointed out he was blond. At what point
did you realize that Draco was blond?

>>That completely shocked me, (even Christian's correction that Draco
was described in Book III) because I had always pictured him blond
long before the movies came out. Now I have to wonder why! Perhaps
simply because he's rather introduced as Harry's opposite: dark
hair, dark eyes versus pale hair, pale eyes. Strangely, if Draco had
been dark haired in the movies, I doubt it would change my picturing
him as blonde in the books. I've been known to disregard the
author's descriptions when it doesn't conform to my mental image.
Especially in romance novels, lol!

Well, I don't care for any of the wizards' costumes (except for DD
in the first two) or any of the kids' costumes.

>>The costumes irritate me so much in the later movies!!! They wear
jeans and sweatshirts and tennis shoes. Obviously, they disregarded
the entire "wizards don't understand muggle dress" concept and had
everyone dress like muggles except for an occasional robe. We won't
even discuss Hermione's atrocious dress that made her look like a
tortured bridesmaid. Shudder.

Potioncat: The women professors are alright.

>>I do love Emma Thompson as Trelawney. Then again, I'd probably
love Emma Thompson as Snape. If anyone could pull that off, she
could!

>>I had fun looking up everyone's ideas for character players.
Didn't care for Tim Roth as Snape, although maybe with long, greasy
hair it would have been easier to picture. Brian Blessed would have
been a good Hagrid, except he looks a bit sinister, I think. Mark
Rylance has a good face for Lupin, but I would have LOVED to see
Peter Wingfield as Lupin. He played Methos in the Highlander series
and I think he has the perfect Lupin attitude. Hmmm, and Adrian Paul
as Sirius Black? Now I'm just torturing myself.
