Secca answers: (formerly known as Argus Pyrites)
(First off, sorry about the name change, but as I am now on staff at
Potter's Keys as "Secca", thought I'd reflect that here as well.)
Yes, the Wizengamot's robes are described as "Plum-colored robes with
an elaborately worked silve W on the left hand side of the chest."
These robes seem to be worn only by members when they are actually
sitting in court.
In Ootp, Harry is tried by the 'full court' which numbers about 50
members... we are given the names of only a few of those present
"Interrogators:
Cornelius Oswald Fudge, Minister of Magic,
Amelia Susan Bones, Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement,
Dolores Jane Umbridge, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister
and Percy Ignatius Weasley as Court Scribe"
Percy is most likely not a member of the Wizengamot.
The only only other member that we knew for certain, was Dumbledore.
(As far as I remember)
As far as the films... well the pensieve memory from GoF might be
occuring in the court before the Wizengamot (?) but it was referred to
as the books as just the 'Ministry of Magic' when Karkaroff gave his
testimony; And as the 'Council of Magical Law' during the scenes with
Ludo & Barty Jr.
All the above info is from the books...
Of course, they are filming OotP right now, so there could be some
Wizengamot pics floating around (?)
Hope I unconfused you a little...
